[비즈한국] The sweltering heat has finally subsided, and autumn is fast approaching. As autumn is the perfect season for traveling, an event is being held to help ease the financial burden. Throughout October and November, you can enjoy various discount benefits for domestic travel through the ‘2026 Autumn Travel Month’ campaign promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Points Awarded for Cars, Trains, and Flights
Drivers can receive up to 30,000 points if they use TMAP to visit one of the 89 population-decline areas. After signing an eco-friendly safe travel pledge, those who drive more than 30km to a destination in a population-decline area will receive a digital stamp and reward points from the local government they visit. Electric vehicle drivers can receive an additional 2,000 points, another 5,000 points for using a digital tourist resident card after visiting the region, and 2,000 more for writing a review in video format.
Discount benefits are also added to train and flight travel. Those who visit and verify their trip to one of the 41 population-decline areas partnered with KORAIL will receive a discount voucher equivalent to their train fare. Five themed train routes are offered at half price, and the ‘Railro Pass’ is discounted by 20,000 won. The 41 population-decline areas are as follows: △Gangwon (Samcheok, Yeongwol, Jeongseon, Taebaek, Hoengseong) △Gyeongsang (Gunwi, Mungyeong, Miryang, Bonghwa, Andong, Yeongdeok, Yeongju, Yeongcheon, Ulleung, Uljin, Uiseong, Cheongdo) △Chungcheong (Gongju, Goesan, Nonsan, Danyang, Boryeong, Seocheon, Yeongdong, Okcheon, Yesan, Jecheon) △Jeolla (Gangjin, Gokseong, Goheung, Gurye, Gimje, Namwon, Muju, Boseong, Jangseong, Jangheung, Jeongeup, Imsil, Hampyeong, Haenam)
In addition, Naver Pay points will be awarded when purchasing domestic round-trip flight tickets via Naver Flights. For inland routes, you can receive 10,000 won per person (up to 4 people per booking, total 40,000 won), and for Jeju routes, 5,000 won per person (up to 4 people per booking, total 20,000 won). The usage (boarding) period for these transportation discounts is from October 1 to November 30.
For coastal areas with limited public transportation, rental cars are discounted. When renting eco-friendly vehicles (hybrid, electric, LPG) in 64 coastal cities and counties (excluding the metropolitan area), rental fees will be reduced based on usage time. You get 10,000 won off for rentals of 24 hours or more, and 20,000 won off for 48 hours or more. Gasoline and diesel vehicles are excluded, and the discount in Jeju Island is halved (5,000 won and 10,000 won). The discount period applies for the month of October.
Discounts on Accommodations and Campgrounds
Discounts are also available for lodging. Approximately 80,000 accommodation discount vouchers valid in non-metropolitan areas will be distributed. Starting at 10:00 AM on September 22, vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, one per person, through online travel agency channels and can be used until November 8. This year, in connection with the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, island area discount vouchers have also been introduced. You can receive a 50,000 won discount if the booking amount exceeds 70,000 won, or a 30,000 won discount if it is below that amount. The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo will be held until November 4 at the Yeosu World Expo Convention Center and other venues.
Campground users are offered a 10,000 won discount. Coupons for campers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until November 28 through campsite booking services ‘Camfit’ and ‘Camping Talk’. The usage period is from October 1 to November 30.
Additionally, the ‘Local Love Vacation Support’ program, which returns half of travel expenses in mobile local currency vouchers, will also be conducted. The plan specifically aims to support local economic recovery by promoting consumption in the Geoje and Tongyeong regions, which were affected by heavy summer rains.
