[비즈한국] Geo-Young, the largest pharmaceutical distribution company in Korea, is entering the digital medical device distribution market. It is expected to leverage its nationwide network of medical institutions, built throughout its history of pharmaceutical distribution, to support digital healthcare companies in commercializing their products and entering hospitals.

According to the pharmaceutical and bio industry on the 18th, Geo-Young is pursuing the distribution of AI solutions for Adotcure, a startup that develops voice analysis-based heart failure risk monitoring software. It was confirmed that the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the end of last month.
This move is noteworthy as it marks an expansion for Geo-Young, which has primarily focused on pharmaceutical distribution, into the digital medical device market. While the company has been operating pharmacy IT solutions and computer network supply businesses through its subsidiary, Cresoti, this is the first time it has fully pursued the distribution of digital medical devices that are directly linked to hospital prescriptions. It is known that Geo-Young has been reviewing the feasibility and business potential of entering the digital healthcare market for about three years.
Adotcure, which has partnered with Geo-Young, is developing 'Heart to Voice,' an AI-based digital medical device for voice analysis-based heart failure risk monitoring. The company aims to undergo confirmatory clinical trials by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in the fourth quarter of this year and obtain product approval in the first half of next year. Heart to Voice won the Minister of Science and ICT (Deputy Prime Minister) Award at the 2026 World IT Show held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, last April.
However, for small and medium-sized digital healthcare companies, even after obtaining product approval, there are limitations in terms of manpower and costs in establishing their own sales networks to successfully settle into the market.
In particular, medical institutions have high barriers to entry as they require multiple procedures such as sales to medical staff, product training, and internal reviews by individual hospitals before a new medical device can be introduced into actual clinical practice. This is why Geo-Young's infrastructure, which has secured a nationwide hospital network, can be utilized for the early market entry of Adotcure's products.
Jung Kyung-ho, CEO of Adotcure, explained the background of the cooperation by stating, "It is realistically very difficult for a new startup to build a direct sales network targeting numerous medical institutions across the country," adding, "Utilizing the infrastructure of Geo-Young, which possesses the largest pharmaceutical distribution network in Korea, was essential."
Geo-Young is the largest pharmaceutical distribution and healthcare logistics company in Korea, founded in 2002. By separating sales and logistics and introducing systems such as a twice-daily delivery service and large-scale logistics centers, it has driven logistics efficiency and business diversification in the domestic pharmaceutical distribution industry. It is expanding its business areas into GPO (Group Purchasing Organization), 3PL/4PL (Third/Fourth-party logistics), healthcare IT, and radiopharmaceuticals.
A Geo-Young official said, "It is true that we signed an MOU with Adotcure, but since it is not yet at a stage where concrete progress has been made or practical results have emerged, we are cautious about stating our specific position on business expansion, such as the distribution of digital therapeutics, at this time."
