[비즈한국] CEO Kim Dong-jun (42), the eldest son of former Daou Kiwoom Group Chairman Kim Ik-rae (76), has been confirmed for reappointment as CEO of Kiwoom Investment. CEO Kim has been leading Kiwoom Investment for eight years since taking office in March 2018. His term was originally set to expire on March 15 of this year, but with the confirmation of his reappointment, it has been extended until March 2028.

CEO Kim Dong-jun was appointed as the co-chair of the board of directors at Kiwoom Securities last year. Some in the financial sector have analyzed that CEO Kim will soon focus on the management of Kiwoom Securities. Since Chairman Kim Ik-rae resigned in 2023, his son, CEO Kim Dong-jun, has been mentioned as the next chairman of Kiwoom Group. The analysis suggests he will ascend to the leadership position after proving his capabilities through the management of the core subsidiary, Kiwoom Securities (Related article: When will 'non-executive director' Kim Dong-jun fully emerge into Kiwoom Securities management?).
With his reappointment, CEO Kim Dong-jun is now in a position where he must once again prove his management capabilities through Kiwoom Investment.
Since CEO Kim Dong-jun took office, Kiwoom Investment's performance has been somewhat volatile. While performance was relatively sluggish in the early 2020s, it has been rising recently. According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosures, Kiwoom Investment's net profit was: 6 billion KRW in 2018, 8.3 billion KRW in 2019, 7.6 billion KRW in 2020, 9.3 billion KRW in 2021, 1.9 billion KRW in 2022, 2.8 billion KRW in 2023, 5.9 billion KRW in 2024, and 11.5 billion KRW in 2025.
Kiwoom Investment is operated under a co-CEO system with CEO Kim Dong-jun and CEO Kim Dae-hyun. CEO Kim Dae-hyun's term was also set to end in March of this year, but his reappointment was recently confirmed. CEO Kim Dae-hyun joined Kiwoom Investment in 2006 and took office as CEO in 2024. The financial sector is focusing on whether CEOs Kim Dong-jun and Kim Dae-hyun will continue to lead the upward trend in Kiwoom Investment's performance this year.
