[비즈한국] Bizhankook has been awarded the Excellence Award at the '2025 Internet Newspaper Media Ethics Awards.'
The Korea Internet Newspapers Association held the Internet Newspaper Media Ethics Awards ceremony during the ‘2025 Internet Journalists' Night,’ which took place at 4 p.m. on the 10th at the Korea Press Center in Seoul. Bizhankook was honored with the Excellence Award in the economy sector under the media category. Ilyo Shinmun received the Excellence Award in the general/current affairs sector.
Regarding the award, Kim Won-yang, CEO of Bizhankook, said, “Bizhankook has focused on reporting differentiated and valuable economic news, diagnosing structural problems in the Korean economy, and contributing to the realization of public good in our society by proposing alternatives.” He added, “Moving forward, Bizhankook will continue to strive as a clean media outlet that upholds its responsibilities and roles while adhering to the code of ethics for internet journalism.”
Now in its 5th year, the awards process involved accepting applications from September 15 to 28, followed by a three-week review by an evaluation committee. As a result, six media outlets were selected in the media category, and 16 pieces were chosen in the reporter category.
Kim Ki-jeong, Chairman of the Korea Internet Newspapers Association, stated in his opening remarks, “The association has been striving toward securing self-regulation in journalism and navigating the AI paradigm shift,” and announced, “We plan to establish a ‘Reporter of the Month’ award starting next year.”
Evaluation committee member Lee Chang-seop said in his overall review, “The evaluation committee made efforts this year to ensure that a diverse range of media outlets could be recognized,” adding, “I offer my congratulations to the winning media outlets and reporters.”
The Grand Prize in the media category went to IB Tomato. In addition, the Excellence Award for general/current affairs went to Ilyo Shinmun; the Excellence Award for the economy sector went to Bizhankook and Metro Shinmun; and the Excellence Award for the specialty sector went to News Post and Medical Today.
In the reporter category, Women's Economic Daily and The Fact jointly won the Grand Prize. Women's Economic Daily reporters Heo A-eun, Park So-yeon, Jang Se-gon, Kim Min, Kim Seong-ha, and Seo Eun-jung received the award for their feature series ‘Daehan-i-minguk,’ which takes an in-depth look at the lives of immigrants. The Fact reporter Seo Da-bin was recognized for her achievements in initially reporting and following up on the ‘allegations of sexual harassment and molestation by a Rebuilding Korea Party official during a job seeker's interview.’
