[비즈한국] Celltrion068270 is set to terminate its proprietary application (app), 'Gwajangnim Care,' on September 1st.

Gwajangnim Care is a bowel disease management service app launched by Celltrion in 2022. Since 2019, Celltrion has been reviewing patient support programs and potential business models utilizing digital devices. Gwajangnim Care provides features such as recording patient conditions including disease symptoms, tracking diet and medication, providing disease progression reports based on a database, and expert consultation.
At the time of the app's launch, Celltrion stated that it intended to actively assist in managing the conditions of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by expanding the app's usage, and planned to explore ways to expand the business into various models through future service enhancements and data accumulation.

However, Gwajangnim Care failed to gain a significant presence in the market. According to the Google Play Store, the number of downloads for Gwajangnim Care is 'over 1,000.' This stands in contrast to major domestic health apps that have recorded over 10 million downloads. Gwajangnim Care has also not been updated since December 2023, and there has been no news regarding other business models through the app.
Ultimately, following internal discussions, Celltrion announced that it would terminate the Gwajangnim Care service effective September 1st. A Celltrion official stated, "The decision to terminate the Gwajangnim Care service was made based on strategic business considerations," adding, "Celltrion is reviewing not only the development of treatments but also the provision of new digital services so that patients with irritable bowel syndrome can undergo treatment and manage their disease better. We plan to actively utilize the operational know-how gained from Gwajangnim Care if such services are launched."
