[Exclusive] Yoo Ah-in sells Itaewon-dong detached house featured in 'I Live Alone' for 6.3 billion won

[비즈한국] Actor Yoo Ah-in, who is currently on trial for habitual drug use, has recently sold his detached house in Itaewon-dong, which was featured on the MBC variety show 'I Live Alone,' in a distress sale. It is reported that he originally listed the property for 8 billion won three years ago, but it was sold for 6.3 billion won on the 20th.

Actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Uhm Hong-sik) purchased the detached house in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul—consisting of one basement level and three floors above ground (land area 337㎡, gross floor area 418.26㎡)—in February 2016 under his personal agency, 'UAA & Co. Inc.,' for 5.8 billion won. This house became a topic of discussion after being revealed on the MBC variety show 'I Live Alone' in 2020. After his appearance on the show, Yoo moved to Hannam-dong, and as he faced charges of habitual drug use three years ago, he put the Itaewon-dong house on the market. At that time, it was known that Yoo's asking price was 8 billion won.

It has been confirmed that the house was sold for 6.3 billion won on November 20. Given that this is 1.7 billion won lower than the amount originally requested by Yoo, it is presumed to be a distress sale. The identity of the buyer has not been identified as the transfer of ownership has not yet been registered with the court.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the house was sold while still classified as an 'illegal building.' According to the building register, Yoo Ah-in had installed windows (sashes) on the first floor of the house, resulting in an unauthorized expansion of 10.8㎡, which was detected during a site inspection by the Yongsan-gu Office in August 2017. Although the Yongsan-gu Office issued a corrective order to the owner, 'UAA & Co. Inc.,' the property has not been restored to its original state for over seven years. Moving forward, the new owner will be responsible for paying enforcement fines or restoring the building to its original state.
