[비즈한국] An exhibition by artist Hwang In-ran, who portrays purity, temptation, and the diversity of humanity through girls, birds, and flowers, is set to open. Artist Hwang In-ran’s solo exhibition, 'Abyss of Noon: Beatrice of Silence,' will be held from October 24 to November 28 at Art cube 2R2, located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu. This exhibition expands the boundaries of artistic expression through new formats and experimental approaches, embodying the artist's philosophy and artistic vision.
Through delicate and beautiful depictions, artist Hwang In-ran portrays girls with clear, serene images. The birds and flowers observing these girls are ambivalent beings that lead us to a world of souls and eternity, while simultaneously tempting us toward an absurd and negative world. Through this, the artist expresses the various facets inherent in every human being.
What is the meaning behind the exhibition title, 'Abyss of Noon: Beatrice of Silence'? Artist Hwang In-ran explained, "'Noon' is the time when the sun is at its highest and shines most brightly, but it is also a time when one can be deeply buried within one's own inner self. Modern society, where everything moves rapidly, is materially affluent, and overflowing with capital, is similar to the time of noon. I believe that as this happens, people yearn more for untainted love, profound intellect, and steadfast friendship—things that allow us to be purely immersed." She added, "Like Beatrice, who guided Dante from Purgatory to Paradise, we all long for purity and a being that will save us within our hearts. Beatrice symbolizes love, salvation, and hope."
For the first time, this exhibition will unveil NFT video artworks and a digital projection mapping photo zone. Additionally, passages from the books that served as the basis for the work are integrated with the pieces. Along with digital prints that allow visitors to own works with the same feel as the original paintings at an affordable price, special edition wines produced in collaboration with the Italian wine importer BMS International will also be available.
A portion of the exhibition's sales proceeds will be donated through the 'Soru Foundation' to a support project for installing solar power facilities and aiding a family in Zimbabwe, Africa. Artist Hwang In-ran stated, "I proposed the donation in the hope that the enjoyment of art would be returned to society." Hong Ji-sook, Director of Art cube 2R2, stated, "I am delighted to be able to make a meaningful contribution to society through this exhibition," adding, "We plan to continue attempting to merge social contribution with artistic content through cultural contents, and will continue various collaborations with like-minded artists."
