[Exclusive] Former Korean Air Vice President Cho Hyun-ah, known for 'Nut Rage' incident, has home seized again over unpaid national taxes

[비즈한국] Former Korean Air003490 Vice President Cho Hyun-ah (who has changed her name to Cho Seung-yeon), who caused a major social scandal with the 2014 "nut rage" incident, has had her home seized again due to unpaid national taxes, a Biz Hankook investigation has confirmed. This is the second such occurrence this year alone.

It has been confirmed that the Roden House West Village in Dogok-dong (exclusive area of 244.66㎡, supply area of 298.43㎡), which Cho purchased for 4.5 billion won in June 2020, has been seized. After a seizure by the Jongno District Tax Office in January was lifted, the Yeoksam District Tax Office placed another seizure on the property on September 24. The current market value of the 90-pyeong apartment at Roden House West Village in Dogok-dong is in the 6 billion won range, and it is estimated that the amount of Cho's tax delinquency is less than 6 billion won.

According to the real estate registry, the Jongno District Tax Office seized Cho's Dogok-dong home on January 16 under the authority of the "State," the disposition authority of "Chief of Jongno District Tax Office," and the registration cause of "Tax Collection Division-T2817" (Related article: [Exclusive] Former 'Nut Rage' Vice President Cho Hyun-ah's 6 billion won home seized over unpaid national taxes). This seizure was lifted on March 5, indicating that Cho had likely paid the overdue taxes at that time.

However, about six months later, on September 24, Cho's Dogok-dong home was seized once again. The authority listed is the "State," the disposition authority is the "Chief of Yeoksam District Tax Office," and the registration cause is "Tax Collection Division-T66552." Under the Personal Information Protection Act, it was not possible to confirm the specific nature of the taxes Cho failed to pay. However, given that the primary duties of the Yeoksam District Tax Office's collection division involve "delinquency management for individual and corporate businesses in Yeoksam-dong and Dogok-dong," it is highly likely that Cho has unpaid corporate or value-added taxes. There is no information yet regarding whether Cho has registered any individual or corporate businesses in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

In addition to her home in Dogok-dong, Cho also holds a stake (1/18) in the family ancestral burial ground located in Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, which has been confirmed to remain unseized.
