[비즈한국] An exhibition featuring four artists from the Korea Art Promotion Project is currently underway. Artists Kwon Ju-an, Nam Jung-im, Lee Jae-sun, and Jung Woon-sik are holding the ‘Four Artists, Four Colors: A Journey Together’ exhibition at Insa Art Plaza Gallery on Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, from the 18th to the 24th.
As the title suggests, this exhibition showcases about 40 diverse works where the four artists' different themes, materials, and techniques blend together. They first connected through the ‘Korea Art Promotion Project,’ an initiative to foster Korean artists co-hosted by Bizhankook and Ilyo Shinmun, and are currently active in the ‘Korea Art Promotion Project Association (KAUP),’ which was formed by artists from this project.
Artist Kwon Ju-an depicts dream-like landscapes featuring clear skies, lush forests, waterfalls, and zebras, creating a fantastic and hopeful atmosphere.
Artist Nam Jung-im utilizes a white background to portray various colors through long, line-like planes, further accentuating the white space. Her simple and clean paintings capture the viewer’s attention for a long time.
Artist Lee Jae-sun presents modern portraiture using the traditional ‘baechae’ (back-painting) technique. By applying paint to the reverse side of the silk, she achieves subtle color tones while delicately capturing the subjects' emotions and expressions.
Artist Jung Woon-sik showcases pop-art style sculptures created by cutting and layering pieces of stainless steel. He features subjects that are easily accessible to everyone, such as famous figures like Audrey Hepburn and automobiles.
Park Bok-shin, Chairman of Insa Art Plaza who hosted the exhibition, stated the intention behind the event: “Just as these four outstanding artists harmonize with one another, I hope our society becomes a world where everyone, with their own unique colors, can come together and walk forward as one.”
The exhibition runs until the 24th at the Grand Hall on the first floor of Insa Art Plaza Gallery in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and admission is free.
