Hyundai Commercial President Chung Myung-i 'Surprised' as Nine One Hannam Apartment Gifted to Eldest Daughter Rises 12 Billion Won in Value in 2 Years

[비즈한국] It has been confirmed through Bizhankook's reporting that Chung Myung-i, President of Hyundai Commercial, the second daughter of Hyundai Motor Group Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo and wife of Hyundai Card Vice Chairman Chung Tae-young, gifted a Nine One Hannam apartment to her eldest daughter. President Chung gifted the apartment to her daughter, Chung Yu-mi, one year before her marriage, likely to provide a home for the newlyweds. Chung Yu-mi married a non-celebrity, non-chaebol man in April of last year.

In 2022, Hyundai Commercial President Chung Myung-i gifted her eldest daughter, Chung Yu-mi, a Nine One Hannam apartment that she had purchased for 7.3 billion won in April 2021. Chung Yu-mi (35) drew media attention last year when she married a non-celebrity. As she does not hold a position within the Hyundai Motor Group005380, not much information about her is known other than her marriage.

The apartment gifted by President Chung Myung-i to Chung Yu-mi is a duplex unit located in building 10X of Nine One Hannam, featuring 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms (exclusive area of 273.41㎡, supply area of 333.2㎡, sales area of 341㎡). The time of the gift is confirmed to be March 2022, one year before Chung's marriage.

Six months after the transfer, Chung provided the apartment as tax collateral to the competent tax office. According to the real estate register, the maximum collateral amount provided by Chung was 3.941 billion won, suggesting that the local tax office valued the gifted property at approximately 9 to 9.1 billion won, as it was a direct transfer between family members.

A Nine One Hannam apartment with the same structure and area as the one gifted to Chung was traded for 22 billion won this past July. This means the value of the home has risen by over 12 billion won in just two years since Chung received it from her mother.

Meanwhile, it is known that President Chung Myung-i lived at the Hyundai Motor Family Town in UN Village with her husband, Vice Chairman Chung Tae-young, before moving out and registering her address at Nine One Hannam in December 2019. After gifting the apartment to her daughter, she moved her address back to the Hyundai Motor Family Town in December 2022, six months later. President Chung's youngest son, Chung Joon (27), married world-class golfer Lydia Ko in December 2022, and her second daughter, Chung Yu-jin (33), is known to be unmarried.
