[비즈한국] The fifth exhibition hosted by the Korea Art Underpin Project Association (KAUP), the 'KAUP 2024 Exhibition', is being held for one week from July 26 to August 1 at the Hyehwa Art Center. The opening ceremony held at 3 PM on the 26th was attended by Kim Won-yang, CEO of Ilyo Shinmun, which hosts the annual 'Korea Art Underpin Project'; Lee Young-soo, President of the Korea Art Underpin Project Association; and participating artists, all of whom wished for the successful conclusion of the 'KAUP 2024 Exhibition'.
The Korea Art Underpin Project Association (KAUP) is a group of artists who voluntarily formed the organization after participating in the 'Korea Art Underpin Project,' jointly hosted by Biz Hankook and Ilyo Shinmun, and has been hosting the 'KAUP Exhibition' since 2016.
Marking its fifth anniversary this year, the 'KAUP Exhibition' features 73 works by 17 artists who were introduced during Season 9 of the Korea Art Underpin Project from April 2023 to February 2024. The exhibition will be held for one week from July 26 to August 1 at the Hyehwa Art Center, 156 Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and admission is free.
The participating artists for the 5th KAUP Exhibition are Kang Hee-young, Kim Soon-ju, Kim Hyun-sook, Nam Jung-im, Nam Ji-yeon, Seol Min-gi, Soul Hwangso, Islandu, Ahn Nan-sook, Yang Hwa-jung, Yeo Gang-yeon, Oh Min-jun, Lee Bandi, Lee Won-tae, Lee Jae-sun, Jung Hoe-yoon, and Joo Woon-hang.
In his opening remarks, CEO Kim Won-yang stated, "Artworks hold an eternal value that does not change even as time passes rapidly. I hope you will continue to devote yourselves as great artists who create such great works."
Lee Young-soo, President of the Korea Art Underpin Project Association, said, "I have planned five exhibitions so far, and not only is the work in this exhibition the most diverse, but the reaction from the audience is already enthusiastic," adding, "As we have provided a good opportunity for young artists, I support their continued growth through this experience."
Artist Lee Jae-sun, who contributed to the 'KAUP Exhibition,' remarked, "The works are remarkably excellent, so it is an honor just to be able to participate," and artist Jeon Jun-yeop, the planner of the Korea Art Underpin Project, added, "Although the Korean art market is recently in a slump, I find it rewarding to see the artistic quality constantly developing despite these conditions."
Meanwhile, the 'KAUP 2024 Exhibition,' which runs until Thursday, August 1, at the Hyehwa Art Center, is expected to provide a place to appreciate the trends of Korean art at a glance, as it brings together a diverse range of artists across genres, techniques, and age groups.
