Sigh, I managed to avoid "Kongsuni" and barely survived "Baby Shark," only to be defeated by the Pororo and Momoland’s "Banana Chacha." SK Innovation096770’s ‘Innovation is Natural to Us’
Corporate advertising has really leveled up lately. SK Innovation previously drew attention with their "A-Geu-Wi-Geu (I Green We Green)" eco-friendly campaign video featuring the company president and various subsidiary CEOs. This new video, which portrays SK Innovation's diverse eco-friendly businesses in a "new-tro" (new + retro) style, is particularly addictive. From testimonies of children choosing this CF over "Baby Shark" to office workers confessing they listen to it as their "labor song," the reception has been undeniably enthusiastic.
Various animals like ostriches, turtles, koalas, giraffes, dolphins, lions, proboscis monkeys, gorillas, and owls appear, shouting a familiar "Woo~ Ah~." For those in their late 20s to 40s who grew up watching the show "Quiz Exploration: Mystery World" hosted by announcer Son Bum-soo, this opening theme song originally sung by Kim Bong-hwan is a blast from the past. The fact that Kim Bong-hwan sang the song again after 35 years has also become a hot topic.
Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education’s ‘Let’s Respect, Respect!’
What on earth is this? A man in a short-sleeved t-shirt strides out, introduces himself as the Busan Superintendent of Education, Kim Seok-jun, and suddenly shouts, "Respect!" He shouts "Let's do it right now," "Respect," and "Respect" in sequence, adding unique gestures to advocate for respecting others. Combined with B-grade, dazzling CG backgrounds, it is absolutely hilarious.
It has a vibe reminiscent of the old-school Huh Kyung-young, and the pressure that you'll be in big trouble if you don't show respect is brilliant. The fact that this was approved and uploaded to the official Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education channel proves it's 2019, indeed. Seeing the high level of interest from other education offices and local government YouTube channels, we can expect to see quite a few more videos of high-ranking officials putting their all into performances in the future.
tvN DRAMA’s ‘2019 College Scholastic Ability Test Ban Song - Paya Cart Song’
I rolled on the floor laughing while reading the original webtoon by Kim Gyu-sam, and the tvN drama adaptation, "Pegasus Market," is also better than expected. I was secretly worried about how they would portray the Paya tribe, but wow, they handled it brilliantly! This "Paya Cart Song," sung by the Paya tribe as they act as "human carts," is an infectious song that made me involuntarily tap my shoulders and dance along while watching. It puts the Oompa Loompas from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' to shame.
If you're curious about the lyrics, watch the "Yoon Jjukku X Paya Song Labor Song" video featuring "Yoon Jjukku," who has an otherworldly tension since leaving Everland. They kindly included the Paya language lyrics as subtitles. Yoon Jjukku’s dazzling rapid-fire rap and dance moves are a bonus. Nuwatte nuwatta~ Nuwatterattu~!
